Insurance
I am considered an Out of Network provider, however, depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, it is possible for services to be covered in full or in part. Please contact your insurance company directly to verify how your plan compensates you for psychotherapy services.
Although I do not file with insurance companies, I can provide you with a “letter or superbill” to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Letters or superbills can be generated once accounts are paid in full.
To help determine your benefits, we recommend asking these questions to your insurance provider:
• Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?
• Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?
• Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?
• Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?

Reasons to Consider Private Pay or “Out of Pocket”
Insurance companies usually only cover care that is “medically necessary” and has a recognized mental health diagnosis. Many people seek counseling for various reasons, ranging from depression, anxiety and spirituality to concerns with phases of life (e.g., transition to a new occupation, relationships and caring for an elderly parent, etc.)
Some concerns that people bring to therapy may not be covered by insurance. Often clients choose not to use insurance to defer the cost of counseling because they do not want their counseling to be limited by diagnoses, treatment plans or session limits as determined by insurance. Maintaining privacy can be a valid concern for clients.
How long it takes a client to complete therapeutic treatment can be based on various factors. Much depends on the individual client and their goals in therapy. Some clients are satisfied with reducing symptoms, while others continue for as long as they feel the treatment is beneficial. Sometimes clients schedule appointments less frequently and come in when issues arise. As the client, the decision to end therapy is ultimately yours.
A 15-minute phone consultation will be needed to determine if we will begin therapeutic treatment. At that time, I will provide you with a verbal estimate for services. In addition, this estimate will be available to you in writing with the initial intake packet.

Good Faith Estimate
On January 1, 2022, federal laws regulating client care were updated to include the “No Surprises” Act. This Act requires health care practitioners to provide current and potential clients a “Good Faith Estimate” (GFE) on the cost of treatment.
This new regulation is designed to provide transparency to clients regarding their expected medical expenses and protect them from surprises. It allows prospective clients to receive an estimate of the cost of therapeutic treatment prior to receiving services; however it is only an estimate.
Several factors may affect how long it will take a client to complete therapeutic treatment. Much depends on the individual client and their goals when seeking therapy, therefore actual services or charges may differ from the estimate. While some clients are satisfied with reducing symptoms, others may want to continue longer because it feels beneficial doing so. Some may begin to schedule less frequently and others may continue to come in for services when issues arise. As the client, it is ultimately your decision when to stop therapy.
During your initial 15-minute phone consultation, you will be verbally provided with a Good Faith Estimate (GFE). This estimate will also be in included with your initial intake packet. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
Disclaimer: This estimate is not a contract therefore you are not required to obtain the services of the provider identified in the estimate.
